Every Partner Gets The Right K-1 On Time
Form 1065 prepared from reconciled books, profit split exactly the way your operating agreement says, and K-1s in each partner's hands early enough to file without waiting on the business.
Partnership Tax Return Preparation In Homestead, FL
A partnership return does more than report on the business. It sets the number every partner carries onto a personal return. When the K-1s are late, everyone waits. When they're wrong, everyone files twice. In South Miami-Dade that might be two plumbers who went in together, a contractor with a silent partner or a family restaurant run by siblings.
Partnership tax return preparation here covers multi-member LLCs and general partnerships, from two-person crews to family businesses with several owners. Alex reconciles the books, reads the operating agreement, prepares Form 1065 and e-files it as part of our tax preparation for Homestead, FL owners.
- Form 1065 e-filed by March 15 for calendar-year partnerships
- Allocations checked against your operating agreement
- A K-1 for each partner, with a short note on what it means
- Partner contributions and draws recorded where they belong
From Operating Agreement To Filed Form 1065
The same four steps, in the same order, whether it's the first 1065 or the tenth.
Read The Agreement First
Before a number is entered, the operating agreement is read for how profit, losses and payments to partners are supposed to be split. If nothing was ever put in writing, that gets discussed up front, because the return has to follow something.
Reconcile The Books
Every bank, card and loan account is matched to its statements. Money each partner put in or took out is separated from business income and expenses, so the capital side of the return holds together.
Prepare And Review The Return
As your Form 1065 preparer, Alex builds the return in Drake Tax or Intuit ProSeries, then checks it against the books and against last year's return for anything that moved without a reason.
File And Deliver The K-1s
The return is e-filed by March 15, or on a planned extension, and each partner gets a K-1 with a plain explanation, early enough to hand to whoever prepares their personal return.
What Partners And LLC Members Ask About Form 1065
Does a multi-member LLC file Form 1065?
In most cases, yes. A multi-member LLC tax return is a partnership return unless the LLC elected to be taxed as a corporation. If yours elected S-Corporation treatment, it files Form 1120-S instead. The election history is checked before anything is prepared.
We don't split profits evenly. Can the return reflect that?
Yes, as long as the operating agreement supports it. Allocations follow what the partners agreed to in writing. When the agreement and the way money actually moved don't line up, you'll hear about it before the return is filed, not after a partner questions a K-1.
When will each partner get a K-1?
With the filed return. For a calendar-year partnership that means by March 15, or later only on a planned extension. That timing leaves each partner room to file a personal return by April 15. Books kept current through the year make earlier K-1s possible. If a partner needs one sooner for a loan application, say so early.
Can the partners' personal returns be prepared here too?
Yes. Many partners have their personal Form 1040 prepared in the same office, so the K-1 moves from one return to the other without being retyped by someone new. Partners who use their own preparer get the K-1 and a short explanation to pass along.
